Woman missing after trawler capsizes in Meghna

A woman went missing after a trawler capsized in Meghna river under Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district this morning. 

The missing woman is Belayatun Nesa (52), wife of Abdul Jalil of Mollarchar village under Sadar upazila, reports our Munshiganj correspondent. 

Md Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Gazaria river police, said a potato-laden trawler capsized in the river near Kazirgaon village due around 7:20am.

Three other passengers of the trawler managed to swim ashore, he said.

On information, divers from river police and coast guard rushed to the spot and started rescue operation but the woman remained missing till the report was filed around noon.

The divers located the sunken trawler but rescue operation is being hampered due to the rough waters, the OC said.
