This is ‘yellow journalism’: home minister on Al Jazeera report

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said Qatar-based international media Al Jazeera's report is not “factual”.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said Qatar-based international media Al Jazeera's report is not "factual".

It is yellow journalism and they (Al Jazeera) are not following the norms of journalism, said the minister.

"Our Foreign Ministry and ISPR have already replied in this regard," he said.

The minister was responding to a question from a reporter at the inauguration ceremony of Bangabandhu Corner at the River Police Office in Dhaka's Police Plaza.

Regarding recent deaths from consuming adulterated alcohol, the home minister said some unscrupulous traders are to blame.

"Such incidents have happened many times in the past. Our DB police have identified them all and caught them," said the minister.

Responding to another question about the military coup in Myanmar, the minister said what Myanmar is doing is their "internal issue".

Myanmar has been under military rule before. Although the situation later changed, the government was under military control, he said.
