19 to get President’s industrial award tomorrow

The government is going to award 19 businesses with the “President’s Award for Industrial Development 2019” for their contribution to the private sector, employment generation and economy of the country.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun revealed this at a press conference at the ministry today.

President Abdul Hamid is expected to virtually present the awards at a ceremony to be held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka tomorrow.

The minister said there is no alternative to producing quality products in order to survive in the world of the free-market economy.

Many local companies are now doing well in the world market and making a huge contribution in the country, he said.

"We want their position to be stronger."

BRB Cable Industries Ltd and British American Tobacco Bangladesh jointly became first in the large industry category.

Mir Ceramic Ltd took second place while Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd third in the same category.

Bengal Polymer Wares Ltd and Noman Terry Towel Mills Ltd took first and second places respectively in the medium industry category.

Coco-Tex Ltd and Crimson Rosella Seafood Ltd stood third jointly.

In the small industry category, Prome Agro Food Ltd took the first place where Madhabdi Dyeing Finishing Mills Ltd second and APS Holding Ltd became third.

Besides, in the micro-industry category, Masco Dairy Enterprise, Khan Bakelite Products and Raven Agro Chemicals Ltd took first, second and third places respectively.

Meanwhile, CORR-The Loot Works and Shamsunnahar Textile Mills became first and second placeholders in the cottage industry category.

In the hi-tech industry category, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd, Information Technology Consultants Ltd, and Summit Communications Ltd become first, second and third.

The award ceremony was scheduled to be held in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic.
