Beximco says investment news authentic, projects profit
Beximco, the much-talked-about company, said today that it expects to log a net profit of Tk 380 crore by December 2026, provided factories resume operations by October 2025.
The company made the projection in response to queries from the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) regarding news of likely foreign investments from Japan and the USA, published in the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The company said the mentioned news on investments coming from these countries to launch 15 factories of Beximco "is authentic."
"We hope that it will have a positive financial impact on our organisation," it said in a posting to the DSE.
"According to our projection, we will be able to earn a net profit of Tk 380 crore by December 2026, provided factories resume operations by October 2025," it said.
Shares of Beximco remained unchanged until 1.04 pm.
Following the political transition in August last year, Beximco fell into trouble as one of its major sponsors, Salman F Rahman, was jailed, and banks stopped funding due to high defaulted loans of the entities under the group.
Rahman was the private sector adviser to the deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Amid lack of work orders, Beximco announced a complete shutdown of its factories at the Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur in February this year.
