Inflation eases in December

Inflation eased in December but remained over 9 percent as prices of goods and services stayed high, straining the purchasing power of consumers.

In December, the Consumer Price Index, a measure of increase in prices, rose 9.41 percent compared with 9.49 percent the previous month, thanks to stability in the prices of foods after arrival of winter vegetables, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
