Pipeline begins fuel supply to Shah Amanat International Airport
Fuel supply through a newly built pipeline officially began at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram today.
Energy and Mineral Resources Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam inaugurated the project, titled "Jet A-1 Pipeline from MI to Shah Amanat International Airport (SAIA), Chattogram", at 11:30am at the main installation of Padma Oil Company in Patenga.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman Md Amin Ul Ahsan, Director (Operations) AKM Azadur Rahman, Padma Oil Managing Director Md Mofizur Rahman, Air Vice Marshal Haidar Abdullah, head of BAF Zahurul Haque Base, and Project Director Engineer Anup Barua, among others, attended the ceremony.
Officials said the 5.77-kilometre pipeline connects the Patenga Depot, the country's main fuel hub, with Shah Amanat International Airport. The project was implemented by Padma Oil Company Limited, a BPC subsidiary.
Construction began on December 19, 2023 with an estimated cost of Tk 170 crore.
Padma Oil Managing Director Md Mofizur Rahman said the pipeline would ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to meet the airport's demand until 2055.
