Stocks rise for second day

Stocks gained in morning trade today, extending their positive run for the second consecutive day.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, gained 15.68 points, or 0.32 percent, to 4,810.73 as of 11:34 am.

The Shariah-compliant DSES index increased 0.51 percent to 1,052.70, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, was up 0.56 percent to 1,790.08.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 115.85 crore during the session.

Of the issues traded, 230 advanced, 80 declined, and 71 remained unchanged.

National Tea Company posted the highest gain, rising 9 percent, while International Leasing & Financial Services registered the biggest loss, dropping 8 percent.
