Stocks start week with gains

Dhaka stocks rose for the second consecutive day today and the turnover also increased compared to the previous session.

The DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 23.99 points, or 0.46 percent, to close at 5,224.37. 

Among the traded securities, 217 advanced, 124 declined, and 57 remained unchanged.  

Turnover increased 4 percent to Tk 487.57 crore compared to the previous session. 

The Shariah-based DSES index gained 0.27 percent to 1,166.10 points while the blue-chip DS30 index went down 0.58 percent to 1,921.05.  

S Alam Cold Rolled Steels topped the gainers' list, rising 9 percent, while Atlas Bangladesh  fell the most by 5 percent.
