5th winner announcement of Stellar Women Season 2 held

Season two is nearing its conclusion, with nominations still open in “Environment” and “Agriculture.” Registrations remain available online.

The bti-The Daily Star Stellar Women initiative has announced its fifth winner of Season 2, continuing its mission to celebrate female professionals making significant contributions to society.

Launched in 2023 by bti and The Daily Star, the platform honours women across diverse fields. The first season recognised 12 professionals, ending with a gala in 2024. The second season began in September 2024, with the first two awards presented in November.

At a recent programme at bti Celebration Point in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, two more women were honoured. Shaila Abedin, SEVP and head of liability consumer and SME banking at Prime Bank, received the award in "Banking & Financial Institutions" for her work in women's banking and the wider sector. Dr Tahsin Ferdous was recognised in the "Healthcare" category for her reconstructive work and research in orthopaedic surgery.

New categories were introduced this season to widen recognition for women in underrepresented sectors. The initiative also seeks to connect past and present winners through a growing network.

Season two is nearing its conclusion, with nominations still open in "Environment" and "Agriculture." Registrations remain available online.

The latest event was attended by bti's Managing Director F R Khan, The Daily Star's Digital Growth Editor Abul Kalam Azad, and bti's Executive Director of Brand and Communication Management Aysha Siddiqua.
