AgSS Organised Agriculture Virtual Summit 2021

Agriculture Virtual Summit is the biggest agricultural program of Bangladesh organized by the Agri-Science Society (AgSS). It is one of the signature programmes of AgSS since 2020 organized once per year. The main purpose of this summit is to bring farmers, agricultural students, researchers, teachers and other farming enthusiasts under one umbrella by empowering them with knowledge. This year, we have organized this program in two phases. The main part of this summit was held between July 13 - July 18, 2021, where 19 reputed speakers have joined us to discuss time-demanded farming themes under six interactive virtual sessions which have been telecasted live on Facebook. The name of the sessionsSession 1:- Future of Agriculture in Post-Pandemic World Session 2:- Smart Farming: The Game Changer in Agriculture Session 3:- Green Farm: A New Way of Safe Farming Session 4:- Entrepreneurship: Importance and Scopes in Agriculture Session 5:- Food Supply Chain: Problems and Mitigation Plan towards Sustainability Session 6:- Rural Development: Agriculture is the Key In the second phase, we have organized a quiz competition among participants on 25th and 26th July where 800+ participated. On 2nd August, we have announced 10 winners of Agriculture Virtual Summit 2021. About 20 thousands+ farming enthusiasts have joined us in the whole summit to get knowledge through plenaries. This summit was supported by IFIC Bank Limited and co-supported by ASTER INNOVATION LTD. FABLAB SAU, The Daily Star, Vivify, Bohubrihi and Youth Opportunities was the academics partner, media partner, gift partner, online learning partner and outreach partner respectively. Prof. Dr Abul Hasnat M. Solaiman, one of the senior advisors of AgSS said,'' We are lagging behind in dissemination of agricultural knowledge among farmers and other farming enthusiasts. These types of programmes enable us to spread scientific farming information to make our agriculture sustainable.'' Sk. To overcome those, the first step is to stimulate healthy discussions to give potential solutions by bringing together the most important stakeholders of agriculture and very glad that we are doing this work through this program where we also get the opportunity to introduce modern farming technologies among farmers.''
