BB organises ‘Cashless Bangladesh’ seminar in Rajshahi
Bangladesh Bank has organised a two-day seminar in Rajshahi as part of its "Cashless Bangladesh Initiative", with BRAC Bank acting as Lead Bank to promote digital transactions and financial awareness.
The event was held on September 17 at the Rajshahi Kara Training Academy Auditorium and continued on September 18 at Rajshahi University. Businessmen, customers, students, bank officials and members of the wider community took part.
The programme included seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions and awareness campaigns highlighting the benefits of Bangla QR and other digital platforms designed to accelerate the shift from cash to digital payments.
Guests included Khondoker Azim Ahmed NDC, divisional commissioner of Rajshahi, who attended as chief guest. Special guests were Md. Arief Hossain Khan, executive director, Bangladesh Bank Head Office; Md. Sharafat Ullah Khan, director, Bangladesh Bank Head Office; and Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank.
The session was presided over by Rafeza Akhter Kanta, director, Bangladesh Bank Head Office. Sabbir Hossain, deputy managing director and COO of BRAC Bank, was also present.
Extensive sessions on digital financial services were conducted, supported by promotional campaigns and roadshows aimed at raising awareness and encouraging customer adoption. The discussions focused on the speed, convenience and security of cashless transactions as tools to advance financial inclusion across the country.
Participants welcomed Bangladesh Bank's initiative and expressed interest in similar programmes being held in the future. BRAC Bank's role as Lead Bank was noted as part of its commitment to financial inclusion and supporting the country's transition to a cashless economy.
