Binary Blasters crowned Champions at ISU Football Fest

Nine teams from seven departments competed in the inaugural edition

The Binary Blasters clinched the title at the first-ever ISU Football Fest, organised by the International Standard University (ISU) Sports Club, with a 2–1 win over the Textile Warriors in a thrilling final on Monday.

The much-anticipated showdown took place at the Royal Multisport Arena in Dhaka, where ISU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan and national football legend Kaiser Hamid handed over the trophies to the champion and runners-up teams.

The Binary Blasters, representing the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, sealed their victory in a nail-biting contest that kept the crowd engaged until the final whistle. Atik Rahman of the Merchant Mavericks, from the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Management, was named Player of the Tournament, while Mehedi Hasan of the Textile Warriors received the Best Goalkeeper award for his stellar performance.

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by senior members of the university's leadership, including ISU Treasurer Professor HTM Quader Newaz, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Mohammad Abul Kashem, Registrar Md Faizullah Kawshik, Sports Club Advisor Dr Monirul Hasan Masum, Moderator Mohammad Abu Nazim, and Sports Club President Yasin Ahmed Suman. The programme was presided over by Professor Mohammad Ali, Chief Advisor of the ISU Sports Club.

Nine teams from seven departments competed in the inaugural edition, including the Merchant Mavericks, Textile Warriors, Tactical Tex, DBA Prime Valor, DBA Legacy United, Cyber Strikers, Binary Blasters, Legal Eagles, and English Invincible. Organisers said the festival not only showcased the sporting spirit of ISU students but also laid the foundation for a new annual tradition at the university.
