BIT hosts first 'Lit & Art Fest' in memory of its founder
Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT) organised its first Lit & Art Fest, a three-day celebration of literature, arts and education dedicated to the memory of its late founder-principal - Lubna Choudhury.
Held from 28–30 August at the school's senior campus in Uttara, the festival was attended by more than 500 students from 30 English and Bangla medium schools across Dhaka. The programme featured poetry recitations, writing and journalism competitions, art exhibitions, drama performances and interactive workshops.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Zafar Sobhan, founder editor of Counterpoint BD, representatives from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute and corporate trainer Ghulam Sumdany Don.
BIT Managing Director and CEO Anika Rahman described the festival as both a tribute to her mother and a continuation of the school's mission to empower students "through literature, arts, and critical thinking."
Board director Talita Choudhury underlined the enduring role of creativity in an evolving world. "While technology evolves, the arts will continue to exist and thrive," she said.
The closing ceremony on 30 August featured author Saad Z Hossain as chief guest, alongside student performances and award handovers.
The event was organised with support from The Daily Star, ACI Pure Fortified Atta Rice, Trust Bank PLC and other sponsors, with Channel 24 as media partner.
BIT said the festival would serve as a landmark initiative in honour of Lubna Choudhury, reflecting the school's legacy of holistic and innovative education.
