BNPS organises workshop on localisation of women, peace, security agenda

Bangladesh Nari Pragati Sangha (BNPS) today organised a workshop on the localisation of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda at Hotel Lake Castle, Dhaka.
Held in collaboration with the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), the event underscored the need for multifaceted initiatives to tackle the challenges women face due to social and political conflicts, particularly regarding their safety and rights.
In the inaugural session, BNPS Director Shahnaz Sumi highlighted the growing obstacles women encounter in the context of political instability and violence, calling for stronger cooperation between the government, private sector, and donor agencies to address these challenges effectively.
The event was attended by prominent guests, including Stéphanie St-Laurent Brassard, second secretary (Development - Gender Equality) of the Canadian High Commission in Bangladesh; Jasmin Nario Galace, senior programme director of GNWP; Tania Sharmin, planning, monitoring, and reporting Analyst at UN Women Bangladesh; Shahala Parvin PPM, additional DIG and general secretary of the Bangladesh Police Women Network; and Seema Moslem, joint general secretary of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, along with representatives from various women's organisations and development agencies.
