BUFT welcomes new students with fresher’s reception and orientation programme
The BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has welcomed its newly admitted students for the Fall Semester 2025 through a vibrant orientation programme held on October 18 at the university's Permanent Campus Auditorium in Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka.
The event was presided over by Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at BUFT. Prof Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, attended as the chief guest. The welcome address was delivered by Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT. Special guests included Mohammad Hatem, President of BKMEA, and Showkat Aziz Russell, President of BTMA.
Eminent academic leaders also addressed the gathering. Prof Dr Md Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer and Dean of the Faculty of Fashion Studies; Prof Md Muinuddin Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences; Prof Dr Md Sirajul Karim Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof Dr Md Abdul Jalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Textile Engineering; and Prof Dr Engr Mohammad Rubayet Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Apparel Studies, shared their insights and encouragement with the incoming students.
Two students - one newly enrolled and one continuing - shared their reflections and aspirations, adding a personal touch to the event. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Md Rafiquzzaman, Registrar of BUFT.
The orientation programme was attended by the Controller of Examinations, Director of Public Relations, departmental Chairpersons, Director of BIFT, Director of P&D, Head of Logistics, Proctor, IT Manager, faculty members, administrative officials, new students and their guardians.
The day concluded with an informative technical session, followed by a colourful cultural performance, marking an inspiring beginning for the Fall 2025 batch at BUFT.
