Dr Mohammad Rafiur Rahman received the first travelling PHA fellowship

Recently, Dr Rafiur Rahman, a Cardiologist at United Hospital received the first travelling fellowship in Cardiac Surgery under Planetary Health Academia (PHA). Planetary Health Academia (PHA) has envisioned a future where every physician of Bangladesh will get access to a world-class medical education. PHA will provide training in a total of 21 subjects through trainers around the world including UK, USA, Sweden & Australia and Dr Rafiur is the first to receive the award.

Recently, Dr Rafiur Mohammad Rahman, a Cardiac Surgeon at United Hospital received the first travelling fellowship in Cardiac Surgery under Planetary Health Academia (PHA). Planetary Health Academia (PHA) has envisioned a future where every physician of Bangladesh will get access to a world-class medical education. PHA will provide training in a total of 21 subjects through trainers around the world including UK, USA, Sweden & Australia and Dr Mohammad Rafiur is the first to receive the award.

Mr Shakil Farid, Trustee of PHA said, "It is our great pleasure to offer the first travelling fellowship in Cardiac Surgery under Planetary Health Academia (PHA) to Dr Mohammad Rafiur Rahman. This gives us the opportunity to expand our program under PHA and take it to the next level. We promised last year that we shall offer travelling fellowships to a few selected candidates from Bangladesh across different specialties who will have the opportunity to come abroad and do a fellowship. The fellowships will be at tertiary hospitals in UK and USA. Over the next few months, we shall be offering further fellowships across other specialties which will include Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Surgery etc. In future, we also hope to expand the fellowship and offer it to allied medical professionals such as nurses, perfusionists and other allied healthcare staff."

Mr Tasbirul Islam, Chairperson of PHA said, "Our Selected candidate, Dr Mohammad Rafiur Rahman, will spend 8 weeks In the UK Hospital learning advanced Cardiac Surgical Techniques and also, he will have the opportunity to attend the London core review Course for free.

We look forward to expanding our fellowship program to train young professionals which will eventually benefit the patients of our country.
