GPH Ispat, one of the leading steel producers in the country, is producing and marketing the quantum technology steel lone in the country by ensuring quality as per national and international standards, said company Managing Director Mohammad Jahangir Alam yesterday.
He was addressing a views-exchange meeting at the new plant of GPH Ispat in Kumira, Chattogram.
He further said GPH Steel has set up a new plant of Quantum Electric Arc Furnace and Winlink technology with world class technology to supply world class steel to the consumers in implementation of the country's structural development agenda.
This new technology has been installed keeping in mind the satisfaction of the buyers, he said, adding that the technology is being used in GPH Ispat which is first in Asia.
Mentioning that he is working to introduce Bangladesh to the world anew, Jahangir Alam said GPH Ispat wants to take the domestic steel industry to the next level of technological excellence.
Last year, GPH Ispat exported about five shipments of about 120,000 tonnes of MS billet of high quality from the expanded steel plant to China.
Responding to a question from reporters on the rise in iron rod prices in the domestic market, Jahangir said the government should increase monitoring in such a situation as well as keep the supply chain in order.
If the steel industry's raw material import tax is exempted, the price will come under some control, he said.
GPH Ispat Additional Managing Director Md Almas Shimul spoke among others. Earlier, the officials showed the journalists the new plant of GPH Ispat.
