‘Flavourful Bangladesh’ festival launched at InterContinental Dhaka

A festival celebrating the country’s rich culinary heritage, visual arts, and cultural vibrancy

InterContinental Dhaka, in collaboration with bKash and in association with HerNet Foundation, has launched "Flavourful Bangladesh" - a festival celebrating the country's rich culinary heritage, visual arts, and cultural vibrancy.

The announcement was made during a press meet held on May 13, at InterContinental Dhaka. Among those present were Olivier Loreaux (acting general manager, InterContinental Dhaka), Kaidul Arefin (representative, bKash), Alisha Prodhan (chief curator, HerNet Fine Arts), and Byjed Al Hassan (managing director & CEO, Probashir Helicopter), alongside members of the media and officials from participating organisations.

Set to run from May 15 to May 24, the festival invites guests to experience a curated showcase of Bangladeshi regional cuisines, artworks, and live performances at Elements Global Dining inside the hotel. The culinary segment of the festival will feature traditional dishes from all eight divisions of the country, including Mezbaani Beef from Chattogram, Kacchi Biryani from Dhaka, Ilish Macher Paturi from Barishal, Chui Jhaal Beef from Khulna, Boal Macher Doi Jhal from Mymensingh, Murgir Jhol with Kacha Aam from Rajshahi, Bhuna Khichuri from Rangpur, and Shatkora Murgi from Sylhet.

In addition to the regional offerings, the festival will also showcase "B Cuisine" fusion items such as Shatkora Beef Brisket, Chingri Bhuna Saganaki, Morog Bhuna Mushroom Fricassee, and more. Guests with a sweet tooth can enjoy a wide range of traditional desserts and pithas, including Patishapta, Pakon Pitha, Puli Pitha, Shahi Jorda, Faluda, Roshogolla, and Rosh Malai.

Visual art will be a central element of the festival, with live painting sessions by renowned artists including Monirul Islam, Farida Zaman, Mhd Eunus, Jamal Ahmed, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, Ahmed Samsudohha, Sheikh Afzal, Abdus Satter, Biren Shome, Abdus Shakoor Shah, and others. A group exhibition of 40 Bangladeshi artists and local handicraft stalls will also be curated by HerNet Foundation and HerNet Fine Arts.

Each evening will feature live cultural performances by local talents. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a raffle draw for a Helicopter Joyride, courtesy of Probashir Helicopter.

The buffet dinner will be available from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm each evening at a price of BDT 9,200 Net per person.
