Inauguration of Comprehensive Stroke Center at United Hospital

United Hospital launched Stroke Centre with the aim of providing comprehensive treatment of emergency stroke management with complex cases. Founder and Director of National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital, Professor Dr Kazi Deen Mohammad inaugurated this stroke center on 3rd November 2022 after a scientific session organized at United Hospital. In this center anyone suffering from a stroke can avail of all services including emergency, OPD, evening OPD and admission.

In the opening ceremony, the country's eminent neurologist Dr Alim Akhtar Bhuiyan, Senior Consultant Neurology and Director, United Stroke Centre, presented the keynote speech. Dr Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, Director Medical Services, United Healthcare Services Limited, Dr. Syed Sayed Ahmed, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, Dr. Sirajee Shafiqul Islam, Senior Consultant, Neurointervention and Dr Fazle Mahmud, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery were present among other doctors, nurses and senior officers of United Hospital.

Professor Dr Qazi Deen Mohammad said, "We hope this comprehensive team at United Hospital Stroke Center will provide modern and technologically advanced stroke treatment in the near future and operate as a center of excellence in Bangladesh and neighbouring countries."

Dr Alim Akhter Bhuiyan said that everyone should know the BEFAST symptoms. Stroke patients have to start the treatment within 4 hours for better chance of complete recovery. He recommends reaching the hospital within one hour. 2 million neuro cells die every minute. Quick treatment can avoid the patient's risk. Delayed hospitalization increases the risk of paralysis or physical disability. He also said that stroke center of United Hospital provides all modern treatments including thrombolysis in stroke treatment."
