IUB honours Prof Niaz Zaman for receiving Ekushey Padak 2025

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted a reception to honour Professor Niaz Zaman, who was awarded the Ekushey Padak 2025, Bangladesh's second-highest civilian award, in recognition of her contributions to academia.
Faculty members, students, and literary figures attended the event, held at the IUB Auditorium, to celebrate her achievements.
Speakers highlighted Prof. Zaman's impact on literary studies, education, and creative writing. Javed Hosein, a member of IUB's Board of Trustees, commended her role in mentoring students and academics. Prof. Razia Sultana Khan, Advisor to the Department of English and Modern Languages, reflected on her influence in literature and intellectual development.
Prof. Ahmed Mostofa Kamal, author and faculty member of IUB's Department of Physical Sciences, described her recognition as long overdue. Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim emphasised her legacy as a scholar, writer, translator, and educator, underscoring her lasting contribution to literature and academia.
The event concluded with remarks from Prof. Bokhtiar Ahmed, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, reaffirming IUB's commitment to academic excellence.
Prof. Niaz Zaman, a distinguished educationist, author, and translator, serves as the Advisor to the Department of English and Modern Languages at IUB. She received the Ekushey Padak on February 20, 2025, for her outstanding contributions to literature and education.
