Policy Dialogue on Chattogram’s Urban Development held at East Delta University

East Delta University's Department of Public Leadership, Management and Governance (DPLMG) has successfully launched its much-anticipated "Policy Dialogue Series', aiming to foster meaningful policy discussions and idea sharing among various stakeholders for the betterment of society.
Presided over by the esteemed Vice Chancellor of East Delta University (EDU), Professor M Sekandar Khan and moderated by Assistant Professor Tasmeem Chowdhury Bonhi, the event featured a keynote speech delivered by Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, the Pro Vice Chancellor of Independent University. He emphasized the pressing need for sustainable urban development policies and their implications for Chittagong, saying "A lack of coordination exists among the institutions involved in policy-making at various levels, which consequently leads to a lack of accountability."
Renowned panellists, including prominent figures such as Abul Momen, Aameir Alihussain, Syed Mohammad Abu Daud, M Emdadul Islam, Engineer Subhash Chandra Barua, and eminent academics Professor Dr Kazi Shahdat Kabir, Professor Dr Hamidul Huq, Professor Syeda Zarina Hossain, Architect Abdullah Al Omar, Valiant Freedom Fighter Farooq E Azam (Bir Pratik), Rafiqul Bahar and Sayeed Al Noman, participated in a thought-provoking discussion.
Sayeed Al Noman, the Founding Vice-Chairman of EDU, emphasized the necessity of formulating master and structured plans to ensure effective and productive policies in Chittagong. He emphasized the crucial role of proper legislation in facilitating the implementation of such plans. The concluding speech by Professor M Sekandar Khan encapsulated the essence of the dialogue and further emphasized the paramount significance of civil society in undertaking multifarious measures to preserve the rich heritage of Chattogram while simultaneously ensuring the city's sustainable development.
