Public sector offices observe World Mental Health Day to promote positive work culture
Several key public sector organisations - the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA) - jointly observed World Mental Health Day this week, highlighting the importance of mental well-being in the workplace.
Officials from the organisations said the observance aimed to promote awareness about mental health challenges and encourage supportive work environments that prioritise employee well-being. The event was marked through discussions and reflections on how emotional resilience contributes to better performance and sustainable institutional growth.
In Bangladesh, where conversations around mental health in the public sector remain limited, the joint initiative was seen as a progressive move to foster empathy, motivation, and a healthier work culture. Participants noted that recognising the mental well-being of employees is essential for long-term productivity and positive organisational change.
"No organisation can create lasting impact unless its people are mentally strong and motivated," said BIDA and BEZA's Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, underscoring his belief that employee well-being drives institutional success.
The observance served as a reminder that beyond infrastructure and investment, people's well-being remains central to meaningful progress in both public and private institutions.
