UAP, DU and OTH Amberg-Weiden host conference on business and tech
The School of Business, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka (DU), and Weiden Business School and Institute of Psychological & Behavioral Science, Germany, have jointly organised the International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT) 2025.
The two-day conference is being held from September 20 at UAP to September 21 at DU under the theme "The Vital Interplay between Business and Technology in Achieving Sustainable Development."
Around 250 participants from across the globe are presenting more than 100 research papers, alongside keynote speeches, interactive sessions and panel discussions. Ten distinguished keynote speakers from abroad are taking part.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the UAP Auditorium in Dhaka. Wahiduddin Mahmud, adviser for planning to the interim government of Bangladesh, attended as chief guest. In his address, he said:
"Conferences like the ICBT provide an essential platform for academics, professionals, and policymakers to converge and contribute to the nation's sustainable development agenda."
Special guests included Mahbuba Haque, chairperson of the UAP Board of Trustees; Qumrul Ahsan, vice chancellor of UAP; and Mamun Ahmed, pro-vice chancellor (academic) of DU.
Mamun Ahmed highlighted the value of institutional collaboration in tackling socio-economic challenges. Mahbuba Haque reaffirmed UAP's commitment to fostering excellence, innovation and global engagement. Qumrul Ahsan emphasised UAP's mission to advance higher education and research through international partnerships.
Opening remarks were delivered by M. A. Baqui Khalily of UAP, Christiane Hellbach of OTH Amberg-Weiden, and Mahmood Osman Imam of DU as conference chairs.
The keynote address was presented by S. R. Osmani of Ulster University, United Kingdom, who spoke on the convergence of business, technology and sustainable development.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative crests. Sarwar Razzaq Chowdhury, head of the Department of Business Administration at UAP, delivered the vote of thanks.
