UIU Pharma Club inaugurated

The club’s vision is to build a vibrant platform for students to connect, grow, and lead collaboratively

The Department of Pharmacy at United International University (UIU) marked Pharma Week 2025 with a week-long celebration that culminated in the grand inauguration of the UIU Pharma Club, themed "The Golden Dawn."

The event, held on September 24, also coincided with World Pharmacists Day, highlighting the growing role of pharmacy education and practice in Bangladesh.

The day began with a pharma awareness rally, where students, faculty members, and distinguished guests walked together across the campus carrying banners to promote awareness about pharmaceutical care and public health.

A formal ceremony followed at the UIU Multipurpose Hall, where Dr. Tahmina Foyez, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy, delivered a welcome speech expressing gratitude to students and guests for their participation. Sharmin Ahmed Rakhi, Moderator of the UIU Pharma Club, outlined the club's vision to build a vibrant platform for students to connect, grow, and lead collaboratively.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several eminent guests. Muhammad Mahbubul Haq, Secretary of the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh, emphasized the responsibility of pharmacists in ensuring safe healthcare practices. Professor Dr. Selim Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Dhaka, spoke on the evolution of pharmacy education in the country. Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mazid, Vice Chancellor of the Jashore University of Science and Technology, encouraged students to pursue continuous learning.

Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU, delivered the keynote address, commending the department's accomplishments and urging students to contribute meaningfully to the nation's healthcare future.

During the event, the department also unveiled its first magazine, Pharmasphere, documenting the journey of the UIU Pharma community. The UIU Pharma Club was then officially launched through a cake-cutting ceremony joined by the guests, faculty members, and students.

Earlier in the week, students took part in various activities under Pharma Week 2025, including the Pharma GoalFest Tournament featuring football and handball matches, and the Pharma Carnival, which showcased the Pharma Olympiad, Debate Competition, and Poster Presentation. The celebrations concluded with a cultural segment featuring music, dance, drama, and poetry.

The inaugural celebration of the UIU Pharma Club and Pharma Week 2025 reflected the unity and enthusiasm of the university's pharmacy community — a new beginning dedicated to advancing knowledge, teamwork, and innovation in healthcare.
