ULAB hosts Kosovan Ambassador for Global Talks on education and trade

Ambassador Pllana explored how academic collaboration and commerce can strengthen ties between the two nations

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted the second session of Global Talks: A Distinguished Lecture Series by Diplomats and Global Voices, featuring Lulzim Pllana, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Bangladesh.

Delivering a keynote lecture titled "Education and Trade as Bridges between Kosovo and Bangladesh", Ambassador Pllana explored how academic collaboration and commerce can strengthen ties between the two nations.

The session began with welcome remarks from Professor Imran Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, followed by the keynote address. Professor Jude William Genilo, Pro-Vice Chancellor of ULAB, delivered the vote of thanks.

In his address, Ambassador Pllana reflected on the foundation of Bangladesh–Kosovo relations, recalling Bangladesh's recognition of Kosovo in 2017 and the contribution of Bangladeshi peacekeepers in stabilizing Kosovo after the 1999 war. He described the bilateral relationship as "a partnership built on friendship, mutual respect, and shared aspiration; a bridge uniting South Asia and the Balkans through the twin pillars of learning and commerce."

He highlighted education as a key area of cooperation, mentioning the recent agreement between AAB College in Prishtina and ULAB, which will promote student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and internship opportunities.

On trade, Ambassador Pllana noted that Kosovo provides Bangladeshi entrepreneurs with a strategic entry point to European and Balkan markets. Addressing students, he encouraged them to become "future leaders, innovators, and cultural ambassadors," and to pursue joint initiatives that "spark ideas neither country could achieve alone."

Following the lecture, ULAB hosted a screening of the award-winning Kosovar film Hive (Zgjoi), a story of resilience and women's empowerment.

The Global Talks series at ULAB aims to promote global understanding and academic diplomacy by bringing distinguished international voices to engage with the university community.
