United Hospital marks World Heart Day with awareness drive in Dhaka
United Hospital Limited has observed World Heart Day with a daylong programme to raise awareness about heart health and preventive care.
The events began at dawn with a 2.5km walkathon from the hospital premises, inaugurated by Dr A.N.M. Momenuzzaman, Chief Consultant of Cardiology.
Doctors, hospital staff, and community members from Gulshan, Baridhara DOHS, Baridhara, and Niketan joined the walk to promote the importance of healthy living.
Later, a health booth was set up in the hospital lobby offering free blood pressure and blood sugar tests, dietary counselling, and consultations with cardiac specialists. Senior cardiologists, including Dr Momenuzzaman, Dr Kaisar Nasrullah Khan, Dr Reyan Anis, and Dr A.M. Shafique, shared advice and answered questions from participants.
A patient forum allowed former patients and their families to interact directly with consultants, addressing concerns and reinforcing the role of preventive healthcare in managing heart disease.
United Hospital's Managing Director and CEO, Malik Talha Ismail Bari, said the institution's mission extended beyond treatment, "Our goal goes beyond providing treatment - we strive to make people more health conscious. By spreading the message of healthy living, we aim to inspire the community to take proactive steps in protecting their hearts."
Wrapping up the day, Dr Md Fazlarabbi Khan, General Manager of Communications and Business Development, urged the public to take early warning signs seriously, "We must never ignore the warning signs of heart disease.
