Cucsu polls: Distribution of nomination forms begins today
The distribution of nomination forms for the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections began today.
According to the election office, on the opening day, 26 aspirants for Cucsu posts and two for hall unions collected nomination forms. The vice-president post of the central body drew the highest interest, with seven candidates collecting forms.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin said the first day witnessed a festive atmosphere. "We thought the turnout would be relatively low as it was the first working day of the week. But the response exceeded expectations. We expect even more students to come forward in the next few days," he said.
As per the announced schedule, nomination forms could be collected only on September 14. Both collection and submission will take place on September 15 and 16, while September 17 is reserved exclusively for submissions.
The Cucsu will comprise 28 posts, while each hall union will have 16. A total of 27,634 students are eligible to cast their votes in the long-awaited polls.
