Rally on campus calls for justice

Students of Jagannath University (JnU) today staged a demonstration demanding justice over disrespect of the Holy Quran by a North South University student.

After Zuhr prayers, protesters brought out a procession from the university mosque premises and paraded different parts of the campus. They ended with a brief rally at the sculpture square.

Addressing the rally, Baitul Haque, a student of the statistics department, said, "If anyone attacks Islam, we will not stay silent. We will not accept insults to the Quran or the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)."

Abdul Alim Arif, general secretary of the JnU unit of Chhatra Shibir, urged the authorities to introduce a tougher law so that no one dares to commit such acts again.
