Alokito Teachers and NSU sign MoU to elevate teacher education in Bangladesh
Alokito Teachers Ltd. and North South University (NSU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly transform teacher education and professional development in Bangladesh.
The partnership aims to combine NSU's academic excellence with Alokito Teachers' innovative, evidence-based approach to create a generation of skilled, compassionate, and future-ready educators.
Under this agreement, NSU will provide academic validation, faculty involvement, and research support, while Alokito Teachers will lead curriculum design, programme delivery, and teacher placement across the country. Graduates will receive the "NSU–Alokito Certified" credential, a joint certification that blends academic rigour with practical classroom expertise.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU and Chair of the Steering Committee – Center for Social Impact and Sustainability (CSIS); Dr Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director of CSIS; Dr Halimur Rashid Khan, Professor & Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC); Cynthia McKinney, Director of the Office of External Affairs, NSU; Azwa Nayeem, Managing Director, Alokito Teachers; and Brig Gen Abu Nayeem Md Shahidullah (Retd), Director of Alokito Teachers, along with the Alokito Teachers team.
Speaking about the partnership, Azwa Nayeem said, "We've already worked with thousands of teachers who are transforming their classrooms with compassion and creativity. Partnering with NSU allows us to take this impact to the next level — building an ecosystem where educators feel supported, valued, and empowered to lead meaningful change."
"Our collaboration with Alokito Teachers reflects NSU's commitment to bridging academic expertise and classroom realities ensuring every teacher is equipped to meet the evolving needs of today's learners," said Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury.
The collaboration will also lead to the establishment of the NSU–Alokito Centre for Teacher Excellence, a hub dedicated to research, policy advocacy, and continuous professional learning. The centre will focus on advancing evidence-based teaching practices and influencing national education policy.
