Roads or Obstacle Courses?

Repair and development work with oversight and negligence has turned many streets of Dhaka virtually into obstacle courses, especially in places likes Gabtoli, Majhar road, Moghbazar, Malibagh, Badda, Jatrabari and Lalbagh. Such is the state that many streets can no longer be deemed usable. Construction work by Dhaka City Corporation and Wasa adds to the suffering of commuters. Sinkholes, potholes, broken roads forming puddles, large concrete pipes strewn about, entire portions of roads dug up and dirt accumulating on ongoing construction sites are becoming common in a city that is steadily being disallowed to move. Further cause for concern is the fact that such conditions invite accidents on a regular basis.
