2 Biman staff held with gold at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence officials detained two employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with 40 gold bars, worth Tk 2.03 crore, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.

Detainees -- Jafar Iqbal and Joydeb Das -- identified themselves as cleaners of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Moinul Khan, director general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), told The Daily Star.

Tipped off, a team of Customs Intelligence detained Jafar and Joydeb while they were carrying the gold bars, weighing 4.6 kilogrammes, inside their bodies after they cleaned a flight of Qatar Airways around 6:30pm, said Moinul Khan.
