Cops still clueless about attack on CMCH doctor
Seven days have passed since a doctor of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was hacked in his house at Agrabad in Chittagong city on October 19 but police are yet to trace any of the assailants.
Police arrested the domestic help, Yasmin, around 23 years, who had worked for last eight months, following the incident.
Sub-Inspector Sohel Rana of Halishahar Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, said they suspect that Yasmin could be involved with the attackers as the door of the roof was left open on that day but Yasmin denied her involvement.
Two unidentified persons stabbed Tarek Shams, an outpatient medical officer of CMCH, leaving him critically injured at his house entering mysteriously. Tarek is out of danger now, said CMCH sources.
Halishahar police recovered a cleaver from the spot and are investigating every aspect including personal and professional enmity.
Tarek's mother Anwara Alam said her son did not have enmity with anyone. "It is mysterious that the attackers did not take anything except for Tarek's mobile phone set," she added.
On October 20, Bangladesh Medical Association's Chittagong unit formed a human chain before CMCH main entrance protesting the attack. Dr Mujibul Haque Khan, president of the unit, yesterday said they would wage tougher movement if the attackers are not arrested within seven days.
