Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said they will fine four times more than the usual if mosquito larvae is found in government colonies and at under-construction structures.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said they will fine four times more than the usual if mosquito larvae is found in government colonies and at under-construction structures.

The DSCC mayor came up with the comment during a view exchange meeting with the department of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka.

"We are now conducting mobile court drives in government housing areas and under construction structures of different government agencies. I have directed our mobile courts to fine four times the usual fine if any larvae is found there," he said.

Mayor Taposh said DSCC men who spray the area against mosquitoes and councilors are not allowed to enter government colonies and under-construction structures of different government agencies which has resulted in weak mosquito control activities at these places.

As such DSCC has decided to conduct mobile court operations there, said the mayor.

Mayor asked female councilors to create awareness among house owners who have rooftop gardens so that they know about Aedes mosquitoes and take necessary steps to destroy breeding grounds.
