Five contestants were selected in the Rajshahi regional round of the Rupchanda-Star Lifestyle Super Chef held in Rajshahi Shilpakala Academy Auditorium yesterday.

The most appreciated dish of the event which is Capsicum Chicken was prepared by Farhana Faruk Naz, a local boutique shop owner. Judges highlighted the perfect balance of flavours of the dish.

Naz said cooking is her hobby and her mother-in-law was the first one to teach her different dishes.

Another of the five, Ekram Ali, a personal chef in his late twenties, impressed all the judges with his dish "Baim Dopeyaja".

The five, including Sirajun Monira, Fatima Akhtar and Rubina Akhtar Banu, were selected from among 83 participants through an MCQ test, a written test, and a cooking test.

Farhana Akhtar, winner of the first Super Chef hunt, and Nadim Sarkar, second runner up of the last year's competition, judged the event.

With Rajshahi, a total of four regional rounds have been held among 13. All these selected contestants will compete in Dhaka in January for the title of "Super Chef".

Sabrin Maruf, brand executive of Rupchanda, moderated the programme.

"Nowadays, cooking has become a potential career but we do not have enough institutes to learn different styles of cooking in Rajshahi," said Tahrima Mozid, a participant.

All the participants thanked the organisers for giving them an opportunity to show their talents as well as learning new cooking techniques through the event.
