A Dhaka court yesterday rejected the bail petition of Mufti Sharifullah, an assistant publicity secretary of Hefajat-e-Islam, and sent him to jail in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station on May 6, 2013.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yeasmin Ara passed the order after the IO produced him on completion of one-day remand. On May 5 in 2013, Hefajat members clashed with law enforcers and Awami League men, turning Motijheel and Paltan into a battlefield.
