Man stabs cop in Old Dhaka’s Nawabpur

An on-duty policeman was stabbed by unknown miscreants at Nawabpur in old part of Dhaka.

An on-duty policeman was stabbed at Nawabpur in old part of Dhaka this morning.

Police said the attack on Assistant Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman Ali, a cop posted in Nawabpur police outpost under Bangshal Police Station, was carried out by a businessman.

However, they did not provide any further details. No one was arrested immediately.

Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told The Daily Star policeman Ali locked into an altercation with a local businessman around 9:00am.

At one stage, Khoka, proprietor of B Rahman Rubber and Plastic, stabbed him, DC Maruf said.   

Mosleh Uddin, a constable of Nawabpur police outpost, said ASI Anisur was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with stab wounds to the neck, forehead and legs.

Later ASI Anisur was shifted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital from the DMCH.
