Muezzin killed inside Old Dhaka mosque

Unknown assailants have stabbed dead a muezzin inside a mosque in Old Dhaka’s Islampur area. Police recovered the body from the stairs of the mosque. However, any motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

The body of Belal Hossain, 55, was found in a pool of blood on the stairs of the mosque. Police say he was killed before 5:00am this morning.

Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Hassan confirmed the murder. He could not state any possible motive of the killing.
The body has been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
