The parliament yesterday expressed its condolences to Palestinians killed in the recent Israeli airstrikes.

Describing the Israeli attack on Palestine as inhumane, Prime Minister Hasina said that what happened in Palestine is inhumane. The cries of the little children there, their helplessness, wandering around without parents -- are hard to see.

The premier said this while participating in the discussion on the obituary motion over the demise of ruling AL leaders -- Cumilla-5 lawmaker Abdul Matin Khasru, and Dhaka-14 MP Aslamul Haque.

Strongly condemning the Israeli massacre, Hasina expressed her utter criticism of the killings of Palestinian people by Israel.

Explaining Bangladesh's position on the Palestine issue, Sheikh Hasina said, "We are always with the brothers of Palestine.

We have cooperated them in the past. We will definitely continue this cooperation."

A freedom fighter, president of Supreme Court Bar Association and five-time MP Abdul Matin Khasru died of Covid-19 on April 14 at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He was 71.

Three-time MP Aslamul Hoque breathed his last at a city hospital on April 4 at the age of 61.

Recalling the contribution of Abdul Matin Khasru and Aslamul Haque for AL, the PM expressed deep shock at their demise and prayed for the salvation of the departed souls.

PM said it was Khasru who had placed the bill on repealing Indemnity Ordinance that had barred killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members from bringing them to book.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition GM Quader, Law Minister Anisul Haq, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, Opposition Chief Whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu, Jatiya Party MP Kazi Firoz Rashid, AL MPs Ali Ashraf, among others, also spoke on the condolence motion.

A one-minute silence was observed and prayers were offered seeking salvation and eternal peace of the departed souls.

Later, the parliament unanimously adopted the obituary motion expressing profound grief at the demise of the two sitting MPs and other renowned personalities.
