In Mymensingh, two farmers were killed after being crushed by a sand-laden truck in Gafargaon upazila.

The victims were identified as Manik Mia (33) and his neighbour Masum Mia (17), both of Khorshid Mahal village under Gafargaon.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Pagla Police Station Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said Manik and Masum were working in a field when the truck crushed them, killing both on the spot around 6am.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. The truck driver managed to flee the scene with the vehicle.

A case was lodged with the police station in this regard.

In Jhenaidah's Kaliganj upazila, a bicyclist was killed in a road crash. The victim is Jihad Hossain (18) of Helai village under the upazila. He worked in a clothing shop in the upazila town.

OC of Kaliganj Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman said the accident occurred around 11am when Jihad was returning home from Kaliganj town.

As he reached the Muslim Bakery area, a speeding truck ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The truck was seized but the driver escaped, police said.
