Teen killed after being hit by bus in Malibagh

A teenager was killed after he was hit by another bus in Malibagh area of Dhaka this evening.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Rana (19), son of Anisur Rahman of Khulna's Sonadanga upazila, Mohammad Shahjahan, sub-inspector of Hatirjheel Police Station, told The Daily Star tonight.

SI Shahjahan said Rana was going to Rampura by a bus of Turag Paribahan this evening.

At one stage, a Rampura-bound bus of Akash Paribahan hit his bus from behind in Malibagh's Chowdhurypara around 7pm. Rana was looking out through the bus window at the time, said the SI.

The bus also hit Rana's head at the time leaving him dead on the spot, said SI Shahjahan.

Police seized both the buses but their drivers managed to flee the scene.

Rana used to live Moghbazar area of Dhaka, said SI Shahjahan. "We have come to know that he was a student but we could not learn about his class or the name of his educational institute," added the police official.
