18 rescued while being trafficked to India

Police rescue 18 people, including five children and seven women, from a truck in Bagerhat town while being trafficked to India.

Police in a drive rescued 18 people, including five children and seven women, from a truck in Bagerhat town this morning while they were being trafficked to India.

Police also arrested a human trafficker in this connection.

The arrestee was identified as Abbas Hawlader, 38, a resident of Chaltebuniya village of Morelganj upazila in the district.

Mohammad Hayatul Islam Khan, additional superintendent of police in Bagerhat, said on information, police conducted a drive and rescued the people from a truck on Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway near Doratana bridge of the district town.

The rescued people hail from different areas of Morelganj upazila.
