A five-year-old child and a nurse, both diagnosed with dengue, died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka and Khulna.

In Dhaka, Chameli Begum, 28, a nurse at Momtaz Eye Hospital in Manikganj and also a mother of a 27-day-old infant, died at a private hospital last night, said her elder brother Md Anowar Hossain.

She was admitted to 250-seat District Hospital in Manikganj on August 29 after tests confirmed that she was suffering from dengue fever, reports our Manikganj correspondent.

After five days, she was shifted to a private hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area, said Dr Manobendra Sharkar, in-charge of the dengue ward at the 250-seat hospital.

She breathed her last around 10:00pm yesterday, her brother said.

In Khulna, Sharabonti, 5, daughter of Sohag from Ramchandrapur village in Bagherpara upazila of Jashore, was admitted with dengue fever at Khulna Medical College Hospital on August 31, our Khulna correspondent said.

Partha Pratim Debnath, assistant registrar of medicine department of the Khulna hospital, confirmed the death from dengue.
