A bus conductor and a helper were burnt as miscreants set fire to the vehicle when they were still asleep inside it in Borolekha upazila of Moulvibazar last night.

The arson attack took place on the second day of the BNP-led 20-party alliance's 72-hour nationwide hartal that began on Sunday.

Injured conductor Abul Hossain, 32, and helper Masum Ahmed, 28, are undergoing treatment at Borolekha Upazila Health Complex, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting police.

The miscreants set ablaze the parked bus in Dakshin Bazar area around 11:30pm, said Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Barlekha Police Station.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and put out the blaze, the OC said.

A case was filed in this regard.
