In a bid to curb politically and sexually embarrassing posts, Bangladesh government is trying to sign a deal with Facebook authorities soon.

Tarana Halim, state minister for post and telecommunication, disclosed the ongoing initiative to the reporters in a meeting at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) office today.

She said the then government in 2006 had an opportunity to take the initiative with Facebook, but they did not take the opportunity.

"Hence, politicians and women are often harassed through statuses and posts in the Facebook," she said.

The ruling Awami League-led government is planning to ink a deal with Facebook authorities after inviting them in the country as soon as possible, she added.
