Bangladeshi businessman shot dead in South Africa
A Bangladeshi businessman was gunned down by miscreants in his shop in Bloemfontien area of Free State province in South Africa yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Masud, 35, son of Hazi Mofiz Ullah, a resident of Betuadev village in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
Deceased's brother Harun-ur-Rashid said he was talking to his brother Masud around 10:00pm over mobile phone and heard gunfire at one stage from Masud's side and then he did not get any response from his brother.
After few minutes, their relative Sahab Uddin from South Africa told Harun over phone that miscreants shot in Masud's head, killing him on the spot.
The assailants also looted his shop.
Masud along with his family went to South Africa in October 2004, Harun said.
