BCL activist stabbed dead in Sylhet

A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist is stabbed to death allegedly by a rival group activist at Tilagorh area in Sylhet.

A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist was stabbed to death allegedly by a rival group activist at Tilagorh area in Sylhet this afternoon.

The deceased Omor Ali Miyad, 26, son of Akul Miah of Baluchar, was a law student of Leading University in Sylhet. Two others, named Nasir and Tarik, have also been injured during the attack.

Rayhan Chowdhury, general secretary of BCL Sylhet district unit, confirmed the deceased as BCL activist and said, “Omar was stabbed by rivals after he attacked another activist named Tofayel Ahmed.”

Both of them were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where Omor died, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.

Hearing the news of his death Tofayel fled from the hospital, Rayhan said.

Jedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the news of death mentioning that the police are trying to find the murderer.
