A Sylhet court today placed a BCL man on a two-day remand over the killing of a party colleague in a factional clash the previous day.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim passed the order after police produced BCL activist Pronojit Das before the court with a seven-day remand prayer in the case filed over the infighting, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.

Abdul Alim, 19, who was an HSC second-year student and a Bangladesh Chhatra League activist of Madan Mohan College in Sylhet, was stabbed to death allegedly by other BCL men over an internal feud yesterday.

In a primary interrogation by police, Pronojit, the key accused of the murder, confessed his involvement with the killing, Sohel Ahmad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Pronojit was arrested by Kotwali Police yesterday evening from South Surma upazila.
