Paramilitary force is deployed in Chittagong, Rajshahi and Dhaka city to ward off violence amid preparation of execution of war criminal Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

Paramilitary forces were deployed through key cities in the country today ahead of the imminent execution of war criminal Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troopers were deployed through Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi from this evening to avert any untoward incident.

Three platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Chittagong city, Major Tanvir Mahmood, deputy commander of BGB-28 battalion, said.

Three BGB camps on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway have been kept at high alert and patrol of troopers have been increased, he told our local correspondent.

"Two quick action forces of BGB have been kept ready for Hathazari and Banshkhali," he added.

BGB troopers have been asked to remain alert at every strategic point across the capital to maintain law and order ahead of the execution of Kamaruzzaman, an official at the BGB headquarters said.

Meanwhile, several contingents of the paramilitary forces were deployed in and around the Rajshahi City so that none can go for subversive activities centering execution of the death verdict.

Iftekhair Alam assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police told the Daily Star that they deployed the BGB men in the sake of law and order.
