Chittagong's rail link with rest of the country remained snapped for over five hours after a Dhaka-bound train derailed in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria early today.
Three carriages of a mail train derailed in Brahmanbaria's Akhura Station Yard around 3:35am, Sayedur Rahman, assistant director of Bangladesh Railway, told The Daily Star Online.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. "Chittagong's rail link with Dhaka and Chittagong remained suspended until the lines were fixed at 6:10am," he said. A Chittagong-bound train said to have been delayed.
Mozammel Haque, managing director of the railway station, said the reason behind the derailment was yet to known, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo. A committee will be formed to probe the incident.
