‘Extramarital affair’ behind Badda murders, 2 held

Police arrest the prime suspect and his wife from Khulna in connection with the murder of a father and his daughter in Dhaka’s North Badda.

Investigators have found extramarital affair behind the incident of Badda twin murder of father and his daughter, and arrested two persons in this regard.

Shahin Mallik, a sub-let tenant of the victim’s residence, and his wife Masuma Begum were arrested from Khulna, said Ashraful Kabir, senior assistant commissioner (Badda zone) told The Daily Star.

A case was filed against Shahin Mallik and victim’s wife Arjina Begum over the murder, said Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station.

During interrogation, Arjina said to have admitted to be in an extra-marital affair with Shahin.

Jamil Sheikh, 38, was a private car driver by profession. His daughter Nusrat Sheikh was 9, a class-III student of Badda International School. They were found dead at the family's rented garret on the roof of a two-storey building in North Badda.

After autopsy, a doctor at Dhaka Medical College morgue said Jamil's head was struck several times with something hard, causing severe wounds, while Nusrat was strangulated.
